Technical Sales/Applications Engineer (Senior Eng. depending on experience)


Sierra CP Engineering Ltd design and manufacture engine, e motor, power train, vehicle and component test systems at their facility in Malvern. The company was founded in 1982 and is undergoing a period of growth and change to meet the demand of its global client base.

Sierra CP Engineering supplies test systems ranging from a new control and data acquisition systems & products for an existing test cell through to turn key test cell projects, complete with dynamometer, engine / UUT conditioning systems and cell ventilation systems.

Sierra CP Engineering’s customers include leading OEM manufacturers, first tier suppliers and motorsport teams through to industrial equipment manufacturers.



The Purpose of the Role:

A capable individual that is self-motivated with either experience or looking to advance their career. The role will require the development of technical proposals fully costed and able to develop both commercial and technical relationships with new and existing clients both in the UK and overseas.

You will you be qualified to a min HNC / HND in an engineering discipline with more than 2 years in industry and ideally experience in a similar automotive background would be an advantage but not essential .

Reports to:

Head of Applications


Update and, where necessary, create the library of technical data sheets for standard products, accessories, services and support data.
To work closely with engineering and standard product departments to ensure that the technical data base is kept up to date.
Compile costs for standard products and services
In conjunction with the head of applications , take sales enquiries by telephone and written format.
Your role will be to provide technical advice to both customers and your sales colleagues across the business which in turn should build strong internal and external relationships.
Required to be the technical expert on product selection and application design.
Although you will be based out of the head office, in time, you will be required to travel throughout the UK and travel overseas to be present in sales meetings with your colleagues, providing technical support to assist with the closing of deals.
Presentation and Communication skills are essential to success in this role.
You will be involved in providing presentations on the business and demonstrating equipment to new prospective customers.
In conjunction with the head of applications  compile and send sales proposals.
Keep up to date sales records.
When necessary visit customer sites for sales, promotional purposes.

Deputise for Head of applications in their absence and, where necessary, report to the Managing Director.

Technically minded with a solution-driven work ethic.
Commercially aware
Motivational to maximise department productivity.
Resilience & excellent communication skills both verbal & written.
Deliver to tight deadlines consistently.
Ability to work on own initiative.
HNC/ HND qualified as a minimum
Strong working knowledge of MS software (Word. Excel, Powerpoint, Projects)
