McLaren details the 4.0-liter V8 Senna

Ahead of it public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show next month, McLaren has released further information on the Senna. Fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 – McLaren’s most powerful IC engine ever produced for a road car – the limited release hypercar will develop 800ps and 800Nm.

Ford Ranger returns to the USA with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine

Fitted with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine taken from the Focus RS, the 2019 Ford Ranger marks the OEM’s return to America’s mid-size truck segment. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, Ford promises torque comparable to a V6 and the efficiency of a four-cylinder.

• Ricardo Strategic Consulting is a global management consulting practice that is part of Ricardo Plc., focused on solving business and strategic problems in the energy and transportation space
• RSC serves a variety of global clients in the automotive, commercial vehicle, off highway, government and clean energy sectors
• RSC solves problems along the whole value chain of energy and transportation related products – Research, development, manufacturing, sourcing, marketing, sales and service support
• RSC comprises of people who have all previously worked at leading energy and transportation focused OEM’s, Tier 1 suppliers or practices of other global automotive, energy consulting firms

Position Requirements and Work Details

Key position requirements desired:

• Understanding of products, technologies and market drivers in RSC target sectors and above all a keen interest to continue learning and building a career in the energy and transportation sector
• Prior work experience of 3 or more years at an automotive, commercial vehicle, off highway, government or clean energy focused firm; experience in multiple functional roles is preferred
• Bachelors (or) advanced engineering, business degrees (For Associates) preferred
• Experience working in global teams and solving energy and transportation related problems
• Analytical skills to back market specific knowhow include, but not limited to: basic statistical modeling and regression analysis, multi variable scenario modeling in commonly used programming languages, proficiency using MS Access, Excel and PowerPoint
• Adaptable to any client, industry sub sector or technology base; the candidate must rapidly learn the fundamentals of the client business model and project issues to offer immediate assistance
• Ability to communicate complex issues and recommend solutions to senior client leadership
• Willingness to be globally staffed on short notice and stretch work-life balance, as required

Key work details:

• Support clients on a wide variety of topics, including, but not limited to –
1. New product development and new market entry strategy development
2. Assessing market drivers, customer needs as part of product strategy development
3. Technology assessment, road mapping and adoption scenario modeling/forecasting
4. Competitive benchmarking of products and technologies – Product cost estimation, performance benchmark, life cycle cost analysis, overall business model review
5. Operations strategy – Design and commercial cost reduction, sourcing strategy development and execution, manufacturing process assessment
6. Due diligence engagements for leading early stage venture funds, private equity clients to help assess investments in the energy and transportation sectors
• Engage in overall RSC marketing activities by being active in authoring white papers, industry publications and presenting at market specific conferences
• Support senior leadership team business development activities, as required
• Provide tactical support to Ricardo’s global technical consulting team and clients on key projects
