McLaren details the 4.0-liter V8 Senna

Ahead of it public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show next month, McLaren has released further information on the Senna. Fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 – McLaren’s most powerful IC engine ever produced for a road car – the limited release hypercar will develop 800ps and 800Nm.

Ford Ranger returns to the USA with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine

Fitted with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine taken from the Focus RS, the 2019 Ford Ranger marks the OEM’s return to America’s mid-size truck segment. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, Ford promises torque comparable to a V6 and the efficiency of a four-cylinder.

Design Engineer – Transmissions (Ricardo)

Shanghai, China

Salary: Competitive

Accountability/Key Responsibilities:

• Concept design of driveline and transmission systems, sub systems and components.
• Detail design
• Support calculations and analysis via department standardized Level 1 and Level 2 processes
• Responsible for component and layout designs
• Responsible for calculations for gear, shaft and bearing systems
• Liaison with customers and suppliers as well as internal experts in other countries
• Material selection and process specification
• Consider all aspects of design from concept to completion including performance, durability, quality, cost, weight and manufacturing
• Hands on problem identification and resolution of transmission design issues
• Interface with global teams in English

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Degree in an Engineering discipline with previous industrial experience at least 2-3 years

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

• Strong functional knowledge of ground transmission and drivetrain design
• Analytical thinking and a technical capably with good development potential
• You should be able to use one or more of the following CAD packages: CATIA, IDEAS / C3P, PRO-ENGINEER, Unigraphics
• At least intermediate level of English (daily use and touch with native speakers).
• A good working knowledge of draughting standards, geometric tolerances and manufacturing methods in advantageous
• Previous experience with transmission design (including - conventional, auto, CVT, AMT, DCT) or related aspects of driveline design is advantageous
• Good, analytical problem solving skills
• The successful candidate must have a high level of self-motivation with the drive and determination to succeed. The candidate will be highly resilient and be able to cope with a rapidly changing environment and demanding client requirements
