McLaren details the 4.0-liter V8 Senna

Ahead of it public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show next month, McLaren has released further information on the Senna. Fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 – McLaren’s most powerful IC engine ever produced for a road car – the limited release hypercar will develop 800ps and 800Nm.

Ford Ranger returns to the USA with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine

Fitted with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine taken from the Focus RS, the 2019 Ford Ranger marks the OEM’s return to America’s mid-size truck segment. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, Ford promises torque comparable to a V6 and the efficiency of a four-cylinder.

Vehicle Engineering Design Principal Engineer (Ricardo)

 The Role:

• Working as part of a team, you will help deliver vehicle design and package to the required customer standards, whilst being actively involved in the resolution of cross functional issues
• Supporting the Vehicle Engineering Design Chief Engineer with resource planning and allocation within the vehicle design team. Including workload planning of team, balancing workload across team, responding to project requests for support and linking to other divisions across Ricardo to help to balance workload
• Assisting with team development including identifying training/skills development needs and assisting with recruitment
• Leading tools/technique development and processes for the team
• Supporting business development including providing support to the Product Groups, direct selling and linking to other teams across Ricardo for possible internal support
• Lead as necessary packaging meetings and other meetings to resolve vehicle package issues

The ideal candidate will have:

• Extensive vehicle design experience in both chassis and powertrain systems
• Experience of several CAD modeling packages and PLM environments including Catia V5, engineering drawing, GD&T knowledge, Vismockup, TeamCentre and Windchill
• Proven experience of delivering vehicle package solutions
• A degree in mechanical or automotive engineering or equivalent engineering knowledge
• Knowledge of chassis and powertrain component attributes, servicing implications, manufacturing and assembly requirements
• Be very familiar with the usual Microsoft office packages including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• A good level of English language skills both spoken and written
