McLaren details the 4.0-liter V8 Senna

Ahead of it public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show next month, McLaren has released further information on the Senna. Fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 – McLaren’s most powerful IC engine ever produced for a road car – the limited release hypercar will develop 800ps and 800Nm.

Ford Ranger returns to the USA with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine

Fitted with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine taken from the Focus RS, the 2019 Ford Ranger marks the OEM’s return to America’s mid-size truck segment. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, Ford promises torque comparable to a V6 and the efficiency of a four-cylinder.

Power system engineer (Erik Buell Racing)

Salary: Competitve

Erik Buell Racing is currently looking for a Power Systems Engineer. The Power Systems Engineer will work within a team of engineers to design cutting edge electric vehicles and all the systems that make these vehicles perform safely, predictably, and excitingly. This individual will play a key role in helping to define the vehicle systems, safety interlocks, and performance characteristics.

Key Responsibilities:

Define high level system architecture for motor controller and charger.
Work with component vendors to qualify parts to meet the needs of the system architecture.
Perform circuit design, schematic entry, and oversee board layout for system circuit boards.
Write embedded firmware for controller and charger as well as functional test systems.
Conduct peer reviews of designs, features, and marketing/engineering specifications.
Assist with building a test infrastructure to get full test coverage of all features.

Required Education/Experience:
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Materials Science.
5 Years of experience in related field.
Background with embedded systems hardware and software. Extensive experience with circuit and power electronics design.
Automotive power train systems or EV systems experience preferred.

Skills and Attributes:
Ability to evaluate EV system technologies and their fit to design specifications.
Problem solving and process oriented design test and documentation is essential.
Excellent communication skills.
Organized, superior attention to detail.
Diligent, reliable and tenacious.

Other Requirements:
Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
Prior experience with electric vehicle design strongly preferred – the ideal person for this job is as obsessed with the design and implementation of cutting edge electric vehicle powertrains as we are with motorcycles.
