New JCW to include Mini's most powerful production engine

The new Mini John Cooper Works features the most powerful engine ever for a production Mini – a 2-liter TwinPower Turbo unit delivering 234ps and 320Nm.

Compared with the previous Mini JCW, the new model delivers 10% more power and 23% more torque. This brings the 0-100km/h time down by 0.2 seconds to 6.3 seconds with the 6-speed manual gearbox, and by 0.6 seconds to 6.1 seconds with the optional 6-speed Steptronic sports transmission.

The increased torque means that acceleration from 80-120km/h is now 10% quicker at 5.6 seconds, accompanied by an emotive rasp from twin tailpipes of the sports exhaust.

Combined consumption with the manual gearbox is 6.7l/100km, with carbon dioxide emissions of 155g/km. With the optional Steptronic sports transmission, fuel economy improves by 20% to 5.7l/100km, with emissions of 133 g/km.

The Mini JCW's four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine is direct injected, with fully variable valve control and variable camshaft control. Peak power of 234ps is available from 5,200-6,000rpm, with maximum torque available from 1,250-4,800rpm.
