Vayon Group announces the acquisition of Ashwoods Energy

Vayon, the green technology group specializing in the design and development of electric and hybrid power systems, has announced the acquisition of Ashwoods Energy, a leading supplier of battery management systems and battery pack integration.

The acquisition of the subsidiary of Ashwoods Automotive, for an undisclosed sum, sees Vayon Group further expand its portfolio following on from the purchases of FrostEV Systems, FrostEV Parts, Frost Electronics and Goodwolfe Energy earlier this year. As the group looks to further build on its expertise and technical resources, Vayon now has access to Ashwoods Energy's product portfolio, as well as the company's established contracts in high-end, bespoke, automotive engineering projects.

The sale will enable Ashwoods Automotive to focus on driving forward growth plans as it looks to expand the company's electric motors in both automotive and off-highway applications and to further develop Lightfoot – the company's unique in-cab driver efficiency system – in fleet management and consumer insurance markets.

"Ashwoods Energy fits perfectly into the Vayon Group portfolio of companies and strengthens our position as a one-stop-shop consultancy business,” says Phil Gamble, head of marketing for Vayon Group, following the acquisition. “We now have the ability to design, manufacture and integrate complete electric or hybrid power systems all under one roof. Being able to source batteries, chargers, telematics and full system integration from one supplier is very attractive to the automotive OEMs and F1 race teams we work with."

Commenting on the sale, Mark Roberts, managing director of Ashwoods Automotive added: "The sale of Ashwoods Energy is a positive milestone and means we can focus the company's resources, investment and innovation on growing new markets for our highly successful motors and Lightfoot.
