Jaguar details the technology behind the I-Pace

Ahead of it public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show next month, McLaren has released further information on the Senna. Fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 – McLaren’s most powerful IC engine ever produced for a road car – the limited release hypercar will develop 800ps and 800Nm.

The Japanese OEM has revealed its all-new powertrain system which is set to be installed in 80% of Toyota vehicles by 2023. Based on the Toyota New Global Architecture, the technology will feature a new continuously variable transmission (CVT), a 6-speed manual transmission and a 2.0-liter hybridized engine unit.

Applus+ accredited to certify CHAdeMO chargers for EVs

Applus+, a global inspection, testing and certification company, has become the first company in Europe, and one of five registered worldwide, to be accredited to certify CHAdeMO DC quick chargers.
Applus+ IDIADA, a division of the Applus+ group, is the only accredited company that uses an EV charging simulator within its facilities. The simulator, developed internally by the company, is capable of running 140 different test items within three hours in order to validate the correct reations of a CHAdeMO quick charger for safe use according to specifications. The EV charging simulator can also be used to validate COMBO chargers and AC mode 3 chargers.
Tomoko Blech, representative of the CHAdeMO Association in Europe, said: “Fast charging is the key for electric mobility. It allows the opportunity for charging in different public places and reassures drivers that they can drive longer distances.”
As of February 2014, 3,553 CHAdeMO chargers were installed, mainly in Europe and Japan.
