Mercedes-Benz unveils its revamped G-Class


The all-new G-Class makes its public debut at the Detroit auto show in G550 form. Completely redeveloped and fitted with a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo gasoline engine offering 427ps and 450 lb-ft of torque at 2,000rpm to 4,750rpm, despite near-identical looks to its predecessor plenty has changed for the Mercedes-Benz SUV.

Ford’s F150 pickup gets its first diesel motor


Developed by the powertrain team behind the 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine for super duty trucks, the all-new 3.0-liter V6 Power Stroke unit promises 250ps, 440 lb-ft of torque, and an anticipated 5175kg of towing capacity.

Volkswagen Polo to receive new engines

The Volkswagen Polo is to be updated with a range of new EU6-compliant engines that offer fuel efficiency improvements of up to 21% over the old units.
New three- and four-cylinder gasoline engines lead the changes in the revised Polo, with two 1-liter MPI units, with 60ps or 75ps and two 1.2-liter four-cylinder TSI engines with 90ps or 110ps. As before, a 1.4-liter TSI engine with cylinder deactivation (ACT) will be available, this time with power increased by 10ps to 150ps. A range-topping Polo GTI with increased power will also be available next year.
In the UK, the diesel-powered Polo BlueMotion is to be replaced with a new gasoline-powered Polo BlueMotion TSI, which returns 68.9mpg on the combined cycle and emits 94g/km of CO2. It uses a new turbocharged three-cylinder 1-liter engine that produces 90ps.
Finally, diesel power is provided for by two new three-cylinder 1.4-liter TDI engines, which replace the previous 1.2-liter and 1.6-liter units, with 75ps and 90ps.
