Mercedes-Benz unveils its revamped G-Class


The all-new G-Class makes its public debut at the Detroit auto show in G550 form. Completely redeveloped and fitted with a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo gasoline engine offering 427ps and 450 lb-ft of torque at 2,000rpm to 4,750rpm, despite near-identical looks to its predecessor plenty has changed for the Mercedes-Benz SUV.

Ford’s F150 pickup gets its first diesel motor


Developed by the powertrain team behind the 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine for super duty trucks, the all-new 3.0-liter V6 Power Stroke unit promises 250ps, 440 lb-ft of torque, and an anticipated 5175kg of towing capacity.

Axeon rebrands as Johnson Matthey Battery Systems

Following its acquisition by Johnson Matthey in 2012, Axeon has now rebranded as Johnson Matthey Battery Systems. With many years’ experience of designing and producing high performance lithium-ion based systems, Johnson Matthey Battery Systems can provide a full design and assembly package. In the automotive/transport sector the business is focused on developing and producing battery systems for hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, as well as bus and truck powertrains. The business is also a leading supplier of battery systems for premium e-bikes and power tools, which it designs and manufactures in high volumes, and provides solutions for a wide range of other battery-powered high technology applications.
The re-named business will be exhibiting at LCV2013 from 4-5 September, presenting the results of the EU-funded SmartBatt program, which focused on developing the next generation of electric vehicle batteries. Johnson Matthey Battery Systems will also exhibit at The Battery Show in Detroit from 16-18 September where, as well as presenting on performance hybrid vehicle batteries, it will display some of its newer low voltage battery technologies for applications in power tools and mobile power.
