Eaton opens first European innovation center

Eaton Corporation has opened its first global innovation center in Europe. The new facility is based at Roztoky Science and Technology Center in Prague, Czech Republic, and will enable Eaton’s different business sectors to join forces to conduct cutting-edge research and development.

For the first time in Europe for Eaton, the automotive and commercial vehicle divisions will be able to study future trends and develop technologies closely with the electrical and hydraulic businesses. The Prague center will be the fifth in the company’s global network of advanced innovation centers, which are also located in the USA, India and China.

The European innovation center will serve Eaton’s regional global customers such as Skoda, VW Group, E.ON, HP and Czech Railways to develop next-generation power management solutions that make electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power operate more efficiently, effectively, safely and sustainably. It will also enable the company to conduct cutting-edge research focused on the development of more energy-efficient power systems and the electrification of transportation, vehicle and aircraft applications. Working closely together with its partners at CzechInvest and the Czech Technical University, Eaton plans to recruit up to 50 highly skilled engineers within the first year of the facility’s opening and to increase the total workforce to about 300 in the next four to five years.
