Jaguar details the technology behind the I-Pace

Ahead of it public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show next month, McLaren has released further information on the Senna. Fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 – McLaren’s most powerful IC engine ever produced for a road car – the limited release hypercar will develop 800ps and 800Nm.

The Japanese OEM has revealed its all-new powertrain system which is set to be installed in 80% of Toyota vehicles by 2023. Based on the Toyota New Global Architecture, the technology will feature a new continuously variable transmission (CVT), a 6-speed manual transmission and a 2.0-liter hybridized engine unit.

AVL announces recruitment drive

 AVL, one of the world’s largest privately owned engineering company with more than 20 technical centers worldwide, is to employ up to 100 new members of staff in the UK over the next two years.

The company says it faces strong market demand for its unique technical skills and is now expanding to cope. This demand has also led to the recent acquisition of Midlands-based NTC Powertrain, specialists in software development for gearbox control.

The new roles in the UK will be created across AVL’s Research and Engineering Departments in Basildon, Essex, and the Midlands.

Managing Director of AVL Powertrain UK, Dr Matthias Wellers said: “We’re seeing more and more companies becoming interested in what we can do for them. With our technical centers throughout the world we offer our customers a unique service which combines customer orientation with our in depth technical knowledge”.

Wellers added that the expansion marks a big step forward for the Company. “We’re pleased to be taking our business to the next level, even in such a tight economic climate,” he said. "The core of our success is the outstanding engineers who build our team. The Engineers, from different disciplines, develop their careers and work on the most interesting technical projects today."
